Product Overview
Torchtar SBS Membrane is a high performance waterproofing membrane specially designed for cold climates and is uniquely formulated Pre-fabricated elastomeric waterproofing membrane with spun bonded polyester mat as its core. It is made with a unique blend of SBS Polymer (Styrene Butadiene Styrene) with high quality bitumen mix. SBS Membranes have outstanding unlike any other product used for water proofing with most easy application method as well. It has excellent resistance to weather and ageing. The core of spun bonded, non-woven polyester mat offers an excellent tensile strength, elongation and superior lap joint strength.

Product Application
A. SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
Cementitious or mineral based substrates must be prepared mechanically using abrasive blast cleaning or scarifying equipment to remove cement laitance and to achieve an open textured surface. Loose friable material and weak concrete must be completely removed and surface defect. The concrete must be carefully assessed for moisture content, air entrapment, and surface finish prior to any primer application.
Apply the Bitumen Primer, at the correct consumption to the prepared dry surface and allow to dry before next application stage.
B. PASTING
Once the roll is aligned, peel back a portion of the silicone release film and press the membrane onto the substrate. When securely adhered, remove the remaining release film from the roll. Use a suitable roller (eg. steel) to press the self-adhesive membrane onto the substrate including the laps. Use the roller to push out any air bubbles out to the edge of the membrane.
C. DETAILING
All details such as internal and external corners, upstands, vent pipes, drains, support metalwork etc. must be cut and sealed effectively. Detailing must follow the recommended guidelines and good practice for torch-applied membranes.
D. PROTECTION
The membrane applied over the terrace, must be finished with a coating of aluminium paint for non-foot traffic area. For foot trafficked area, overlay with concrete screed mortar.
(Not Required in case of Aluminium Top SBS Membranes)
PRECAUTIONS:
- Do not apply during rains or extreme temperatures.
- Avoid abuses which may lead to puncturing of membrane.
- Ensure that the product is applied at least 6 inches inside the drain pipe.
- Apply parapet to parapet to envelope the entire building for long term performance.
